The Asian American Student Association’s purpose is to promote awareness of Asian and Asian-American cultures and issues within the University, the local community, and beyond, in order to foster a campus community more inclusive to AAPI identities. Founded in 1986, AASA strives to establish a sustaining culture of activism regarding Asian and Asian-American identity, moving beyond established stereotypes and providing a platform for students to celebrate their heritage and find their voice for change.

There are four major focuses of our programming:
1. Recruitment & Social: including Freshman & Transfer Mixers, Family Systems & Reveal, and Social events
2. Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month: Celebrated throughout October. Usually a series of events including our signature Night Market and Taste of Asia
3. Advocacy: including dialogues and workshops collaborating with other cultural organizations
4. Lunar New Year Festival (LNYF): Largest cultural showcase on campus celebrating cultures in the Asian & Asian American Diaspora with cultural dances and performances.
